Microsoft Purview Data Protection – Creating an Endpoint DLP Policy – Video

In my previous video blog I had promised my next video was going to be the administrator and end user experience.  Unfortunately, I have made a liar of myself.  Before I do that video, I wanted instead to demonstrate the process for creating an endpoint DLP policy.  This will allow me to demonstrate both the cloud related policy and the endpoint policy experience.  So this post is actually going to introduce creating an endpoint DLP policy.  I promise the next video will demonstrate the end user experience.

Just like the cloud DLP policy, the endpoint policy also focuses on controlling the flow of data.  As the name indicates, these policies focus on the device rather than the cloud environment.  In other words, the DLP policy will protect your environment from such things as inappropriate transfer of sensitive information to printers, remote desktop sessions, even network shares.  In this video I’ll demonstrate how to create a policy that instead focuses on a common path for data loss, the USB device.  The video will demonstrate how a DLP policy will protect the transfer of confidential and restricted data to a USB drive.
